Thank you for taking time to veiw our website.
To tell you a little bit about us, we are located in Virginia. We have owned dogs all of our lives and they are such a big part of our family. We have owned and raised many different domestic, farm, and wildlife animals.
How the Boerboel came into our lives: We wanted a dog that looked intimidating that did not have an aggressive mind. All of the breeds that we went to look at weren't quite what we needed on our property. We have two children and visitors that stop by to see our animals, so it was a hard decision to make when adding a guardian breed to our family. We are deeply in love with this breed and the decision we made of adding a Boerboel to our family was the perfect fit for our property and home.
The statement above was written years ago and much has changed since 2006 when we first got addicted to this breed. Our children are young adults now and looking back throughout the years, I can still say the Boerboel has fit our home and family perfectly.
I will appologize in advance that the rest of this page is not the typical website words you will find on other breeders pages..
As you do your research there are plenty of links that show up on Google to tell you about the Boerboel. I won't be adding information about this as I feel it is important to tell you a bit about my expericences, a new policy on visitors, and my Boerboels.
I promise this breed is addicting. Loving, loyal and very smart.
I have many owners to come back to me when they are ready to add a 2nd Boerboel to their home. I only recommend the opposite sex. Yes, sometimes the same sexes get along, but it's a chance you will be taking.
Do not expect this breed to be the kind you will take to your kid's sports practices, dog parks or that will love every one and every dog. While this is possible, again, it is a chance you will be taking.
If you are wanting to become a breeder of this breed, please know it is not as easy as some make it out to be.
Regarding registrations, there are many out there. I have sampled almost all of them over the years and I have learned a lot about not only the breed, but life in general. Appraisals are a fun and great way to see the Boerboel community. However, the downfall for me is that some people want to buy a pup based on a number (score) the parents were given by an appraiser that only met the dog for 10 minutes. I got tired of phone calls asking about a number instead of asking about the actual parents to my pups. This can lead into someone buying a puppy off of two parents that have great scores but not with the personality that will fit your home. This is very hard to explain to some as scores don't tell you nothing about the dog other than the outside features. I register my dogs with ARBA and it is a lot of fun to go to their shows because you not only compete against the Boerboel, but you compete agains other breeds. Also, they accept the Black Boerboel.
Our pups are registered through the American Rare Breed Association (ARBA)
Our dogs are registered through NABBA and/or ARBA.

-As of 2019, I have been working with the Boerboel for 13 years and 28 years total of being a breeder.
-My Boerboel offspring/bloodlines can be found in almost every Boerboel kennel here in the States. I also have several offspring overseas.
-Different registries that I have experienced and participated in include: SABT, NABBA, ARBA, USBA, UKC, AKC, and IABCA
-I have had showing success at every venue attended. I raised and owned the #1 Boerboel with SABT in the USA and #3 in the world with SABT. When SABT Studbook exsisted, I was the breeder and owner of the highest-scoring female with all passing health certifications.
-My daughter, son, and husband have all shown the Boerboels and either won or placed in the top 2. My daughter won Junior Handler with AKC when the breed was still in foundation stock. I have won Champion and Grand Champion with IABCA, NABBA, and ARBA with several different dogs.
-Many pups I've produced have dominated in the appraisal system. With AKC you can find my bloodlines being shown.
-I was Vice President for NABBA for 4 years and resigned in 2017 to focus more on my Miniature Boerboels.
-I was an Appraiser for NABBA and have judged a few shows. I have traveled to many states in the USA and also Rome, The Netherlands, and Belgium for the Boerboels.
-I have experienced all walks of life with this breed from Great pet owners, Bad pet owners, Competition owners, Breeder owners, Con Artist, Wonderful caring people, Thieves, and Liars.
By speaking on the negative side with Thieves being in the last sentence brings me to this: I have been stolen from. The people who did this ( I trusted them very much) had visited me several times before. This is how and when I figured out that times had changed regarding me trusting everyone in this world. You can Google what to ask/do when purchasing a puppy and you will find articles stating you should visit the place where your pup will be coming from. While this was years ago, now it is not even safe to sell a bike to a stranger from your home. My doors used to be open to people who wanted to meet the breed and to see where their pup is coming from. I have hosted several appraisals and a breed standard learning class here at my home. Also, I don't want to make a claim on our homeowner's insurance as some visitors fail to keep their children under control. We have all sorts of tools, tractors, farm animals, etc. that can cause an accidental injury when the visitors allow their children to run around without proper supervision.
I do not allow visitors here anymore, so please don't ask as I am still struggling with the fact of having to say no. When it's time to pick up your pup, there will be a designated safe location we will meet if you are not needing your pup shipped. If you haven't ever met a Boerboel, but want to, you can go to shows, meet and greets, appraisals, or there may be a breeder in your area that allows visits. I have lots of pictures of each dog that will show you different angles from front, side, and rear views. I hope you understand my policy and I'm sorry others destroyed my old ways as I too miss the fun and excitement of seeing one's visit my dogs.
My dogs are extremely loving and hold a strong bond with us. I trust them fully. Here, at home, they are alert and will give kisses to visitors when I am present. Out in public, I can take them to shows in all-breed classes with no worries of a judge touching them or a dog being next to them. At my vet's office, I couldn't ask for my dogs to be better patients. If a muzzle is required for one of my dogs, if I have a Boerboel that lets me out of their view on our walks (no leash here), if I have a Boerboel to roam off our property, then that dog is not included in our breeding program. I breed for the type of dog I want here as I keep my own offspring. Please know this is only my dogs I trust completely. Not all Boerboels are like this and may have been raised in a different way. If you are looking for a strong-minded protection dog, working dog, bite work dog, or high energy (bouncing off the walls), then I am not going to have what you are looking for. I don't breed for that style.
I love my dogs, but they are not my children even though I raise them basically the same way when it comes to manners. Example: If I don't want my puppy biting me when it turns a year old, I correct it as a puppy. I don't wait till it is grown. It's harder to break habits if allowed from the beginning. If you don't want your dog dragging you down the road, don't let it start pulling on the leash as a puppy. If you don't want your dog to bark at strangers out in public, don't let it create that habit young. (Anyways, a Boerboel should not bark or stance at a stranger out in public unless they are posing a threat to you). What you think is cute as a puppy, may not be cute to you when it is an adult. Correct bad behavior the first time you see it and keep correcting as habits are harder to break when mature. Also, know there is a fine line between over correcting and correcting where it gets to the point they think it's a game. You should not be too hard on a Boerboel as they might reverse the correction back to you. Being to soft and bribing a dog with baby talk or treats is rewarding the dog, not correcting.
I could keep going on, but this is a glimpse of some of my thoughts and history.
